Start with the relevant council
Somerset Council is Taunton's unitary local authority, with service pages for council tax, waste, housing, planning and libraries. Citizens Advice Somerset provides help with issues including benefits, debt, housing and work. Its published Adviceline is 0808 278 7842. The charity's own service information explains telephone and in-person routes, so start there when choosing how to ask for help.
The Taunton advice location is St Mary's House on Magdalene Street, TA1 1SB. Drop-in sessions and appointments have different arrangements, which can change. Check the current advice-in-person page before travelling, and use the charity's guidance about what information to bring for the particular enquiry.
Join a group or support a local space
Priorswood Community Centre, at Priorswood Place on Eastwick Road, offers social, fitness and educational activities and advice signposting for North Taunton residents. CICCIC and Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre offer further ways to connect through culture and classes, while Taunton Minster has its own community and volunteer activities.
